Trip to Kinnitty

Reporter: Jack Byrne

This week Ty 4 and TY 2 enjoyed another adventurous excursion. On Monday the 12th of October, we headed off to Kinnitty. We went to do gorge walking in Cadamstown. Gorge walking is not only fun but also very challenging, as you have to climb, drag and swim your way up boulders and rocks. To make things even tougher, it was very cold!

After the gorge walking, we headed up to the Kinnity mountains for some fast-paced mountain biking. The Kinnity trails are notoriously steep and narrow. So much so, that when I went down one slippery trail, the bike skidded along the ground, and I ended up snapping the handlebars right off the bike.

All in all, it was a fun and enjoyable day out.

As It Happened: BCCNS Junior Ladies VS Killina

Reporters: Shain Cleary & Paul Calahan

On a drizzly October 5th, our BCCNS Junior Ladies took on Killina. The game started off with a bad wide from Killina, but shortly after Killina earned a great point. A high ball into the forward line was gathered by Sorcha Troy and was then stuck in the back of the net to get Banagher on their way. A vital save from Mary Curley soon kept Banagher ticking along. Killina followed up with a goal, dominating this first half. Banagher gets 3 well worked scores while it was truly raining cats and dogs.

HALF TIME

The electric Fianait Dooley glided past the Killina defense, chipping the goalie and granting Banagher an exciting start to the second half. Banagher then used this momentum to score 2 mighty goals, one from Anna Mcdermott and one from Allie Butler. Killina stayed in the game however, as no. 10 earned a delightful point. A goal by the centre forward kept them well in it. A couple points by Killina ends off an entertaining game and the home side are crowned the winners.  Well done to both sides on an exhilirating match.

Additionally, he explained how to run a team and all the factors that contribute to creating a successful team. The talk was very inspiring and interesting, with lots of beneficial advice for positively contributing to our locality. We look forward to seeing Garry again.
